The coordinates of the station are 50deg 53min 2sec north, 3deg 22min 26sec west
The station consists of an Davis Vantage Pro 2 weather station and includes a rain guage, outdoor temperature and humididy sensor, solar sensor, anemometer and wind vane.
The rain guage is located is located 1.5 metres above ground level reasonably well away from "rain shadow" effects.
The temperature/humidity sensor is shielded from direct sun and is 5 metres away from the nearest building. It is 1.25 metres above ground level.
The anemometer is on a pole on the roof of a house, 3 metres above the apex. It suffers from a small amount of direction shift due to this but is generally accurate.
The solar sensor is situated 2 metres above ground level
The barometer is situated indoors.
About Willand
Willand is a village in Mid-Devon, England, within the Mid-Devon local authority area. It is about 19 km (12 miles) north of Exeter and (1.5 miles) north of Cullompton. In 1991 the population was 3750 although recently this has grown considerably. The UK National Grid reference for the centre of the area is ST037110.
